• ‘Yesterday I lost my amazing mother. Today I scored 8 touchdowns, thank you for watching over me mama,’ Alex tweeted after the 58-34 win on Friday
• ‘It’s tough now that she’s gone…I still went to practice, I still played in the game, because I knew that’s what she would want me to do,’ he said 
• The tweet and a short clip of the game have racked up almost 40,000 likes and more than 3,000 retweets
• After his story was shared by ESPN’s Sports Center on Instagram, one of Alex’s biggest heroes, Tom Brady, commented ‘Proud of you’
